A life-enhancing book for people living with the effects of a stroke has been published. The book – written specifically for Torbay and for South Devon – was developed by the CCG in partnership with the Stroke Association, Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust and South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The book brings together a range of useful facts and stats, written in everyday language, making it easy for people who have had a stroke to get the information and access the peer support that they need.

About a quarter of all strokes happen to people under the age of 65, with some of them being under 18 years old. To help patients, relatives and their carers, the book contains useful contact numbers, benefits help, carers assistance, exercise tips, and facts about driving after a stroke. There is also information about useful services, advice on how to avoid a stroke, and there is significant input from dieticians and other therapists. Download a copy of the booklet here.
