Devon GP practices up for national award

Four outstanding Devon GP practices are among those nominated for Surgery of the Year at the General Practice Awards.

The nominations, voted for by the public, acknowledge the contributions of the four practices to providing outstanding services in general practice.

The four practices are:

  • Axminster Medical Practice in Axminster
  • Compass House Medical Centre in Brixham
  • Mount Pleasant Health Centre in Exeter
  • Rolle Medical Partnership in Exmouth

Paul Baker, deputy director of primary care for the two Devon CCGs, said: “We already know we have excellent primary care services right across Devon and it’s fantastic news that these outstanding GP services have been recognised in this way. The fact that these awards are nominated and voted for by local people and patients is especially heartening.”

The General Practice Awards are an annual celebration of the hard work, innovation and dedication taking place in primary care across the UK. Showcasing the very best projects, teams and leaders, the awards are a fantastic chance to step back and reflect on the past year.

New this year and perfectly timed to tie in with the NHS70 birthday celebrations this summer, the Surgery of the Year award offers the general public the chance to vote for who they think deserves to win.

You can vote for free online and show appreciation for their local healthcare team via the General Practice Awards website.

Voting closes on Friday 10 August, with the shortlist being announced on Monday 3 September.

There are twelve other categories at the General Practice Awards, including GP of the Year, Practice Nurse of the Year, Healthcare Leader of the Year, and GP Team of the Year.
