Make your views about NHS services count

Take the Friends and Family Test
People are being urged to give their views on the health services they have used recently.

Next Monday to Friday is Friends and Family Test Spotlight Week, encouraging patients to give fast, anonymous feedback on a range of NHS services.

The information given will help to shape and improve NHS services across South Devon and Torbay.

Hospitals, GP practices, dentists, ambulance and mental health services all have the forms. They enable people to rate the services they have used and say whether they would recommend the services to others.

Alternatively, you can complete the quick questionnaire here.

The Friends and Family Test is supported by all NHS services in South Devon, with patients being encouraged to give their feedback after using a service.

Sam Holden is Quality Assurance and Patient Experience lead at South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is responsible for the majority of healthcare in the area.

He said: “This awareness week will enable us to increase the profile of this very worthy feedback facility.

“Comments from people who use services can provide a rich source of ideas and help to explain what people are happy with and what they aren’t.

“The fact that the information comes through soon after the patient’s contact with the NHS means faster action can be taken to address any issues.

“It might be something as simple as poor signage, difficulty getting through on the telephone, cleanliness of the facilities, or politeness of staff.

“The NHS would also like to hear any ideas for improving quality, saving money or making it easier for people of all ages, languages and physical conditions to get involved.”

The Friends and Family Test was initially launched in 2013. It has produced more than 10 million pieces of feedback nationwide, making it the biggest source of patient opinion in the world.

To know more, ask a member of staff at an NHS service. Further information is also available here.
