Governing Body wins award

South Devon and Torbay CCG won the Governing Body of the Year award at this year’s NHS Leadership South West Recognition Awards.

Representatives of the CCG’s Governing Body, whose members decide the value-for-money plans that determine the area’s quality of care, collected the award from adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes at a ceremony in Bristol.

Nick Ball, Governing Body vice-chair, said: “We’re delighted to receive this award. It reflects the superb work the CCG has been doing in the two years since it began.

“In particular, we as an organisation have worked hard to put into practice the improvements suggested to us by the public."

Marisa Cockfield, the CCG’s equality and diversity lead, was a runner-up in the NHS Leader of Inclusivity of the Year award.

She said: “I was delighted to be a finalist. It highlights the work of the CCG and reflects our commitment to support the equalities agenda throughout the organisation.”

The leadership awards came after the organisation was named in September as one of the best employers for apprenticeships in the South West at the 2014 regional Apprenticeships Awards.
