Extra Paignton consultation meetings

Book your place at a Paignton meeting
People in Paignton are being urged to book a place now if they want to attend one of five additional meetings to discuss the future of community health services.

The meetings have been arranged by South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for those unable to get into the September meetings and want to participate in the consultation.

Those who could not get into the September meetings and gave contact details to the CCG have already been contacted and booked a place for the events on 1 and 10 November at the Preston Baptist Church.

The CCG is now urging anyone else who wants to attend to book ahead rather than turn up on the day, to avoid disappointment.

Dr Nick Roberts, the CCG’s chief clinical officer, said: “We have arranged five additional meetings, split across two days.

“This will cater for a total of 600 people and give them the option of choosing a time that is convenient for them to attend.

“We’ve had a really good response about these meetings, and we are now opening up the meetings to others who want to attend. They should contact us as soon as possible to secure a place.

“We’re keen to use these extra meetings to hear from people who haven’t yet taken part in one of the meetings, so we can get as wide a view of public opinion as possible.

“The consultation proposes to switch some funding from hospital bed-based care to increase the services that most people use, and we want as many people as possible to give us their views.”

Three meetings will be held on 1 November, starting at 1pm, 4pm and 7 pm, and two on 10 November, starting at 4pm and 7pm.

Anyone wanting to take part in the meetings should contact the CCG on 01803 652511 or email.

The consultation and locality summary documents, including questionnaire, are here.

Paper copies of the document are available in local GP practices, and they can be requested by writing to the CCG at Pomona House, Oak View Close, Torquay TQ2 7FF, emailing or calling 01803 652511 during office hours.

The consultation closes on 23 November and people are encouraged to give their views by completing and returning the questionnaire before this date.
