Consultation decision meeting: 26 January

Contact the CCG to register your interest in attending the governing body meeting.
A decision on the outcome of the public consultation about local community health services will be made on Thursday 26 January.

The proposals will be discussed by members of the South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group’s governing body during a two-hour meeting, which will start at 10am and will be held at the Teign Suite, Newton Abbot Racecourse, Newton Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 3AF.

The racecourse has been chosen for its plentiful car parking, and members of the public are welcome to attend.

To help ensure there is sufficient capacity, it would be helpful if anyone wanting to attend registers their interest either online, by email, calls 01803 652511, or sends a letter to South Devon and Torbay CCG, Pomona House, Oak View Close, Torquay, TQ2 7FF.

The 12-week consultation proposed to switch resources from bed-based hospital care to community-based care, enabling more people to be supported in or near their own homes.

As part of the consultation, 23 public meetings were held across the area, as well as further meetings with local groups.

Healthwatch released its independent report about the consultation feedback on 6 January, including alternative suggestions put forward by the public.

As part of the development of recommendations for consideration by the governing body, these alternative suggestions were initially evaluated at a meeting with various interested groups, including the community hospitals’ League of Friends groups.
