Staff at Compass House Medical Centres have been celebrating after receiving a prestigious Outstanding rating.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC), which regulates and inspects health and social care services in England, awarded the rating after undertaking in-depth inspections of Compass House earlier this year.

Ruth Rankine, CQC deputy chief inspector of general practice in the south, said: “It is clear that Compass House Medical Centres is providing a well-led and highly responsive service which is a real asset to the people living in this part of Devon.

“I was particularly impressed with practice’s proactive work, particularly for younger patients. We found that staff demonstrated a sound understanding of the differing needs of their patients and acted on these needs in the planning and delivery of its services.

“It is clear that a great deal of planning and hard work has paid off in making a real difference to patients – which is why we have found the practice to be Outstanding.”

Dr Doug Ansley, a senior partner at Compass House Medical Centres, welcomed the announcement.

He said: “We’re very proud of this achievement. It’s a real team effort. It reflects the hard work and conscientious effort of the staff in our practice, as well as all the good work going on among practices across Torbay in general.

“We all work together, sharing ideas and information to ensure that our patients receive the best care possible.

“We’re also pleased that the CQC inspector received positive feedback from our patients via the Patient Participation Group.

“We are a very forward-thinking practice, and we will now strive to maintain these standards into the future.”
